In honor of the return of Minato Namikaze, the original creator of Naruto, to the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine after a long absence, Shueisha has released a brand-new teaser for Naruto: The Whorl Within the Spiral. Fans from all over the world cast votes for their favorite character in the series as part of the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Masashi Kishimoto’s original Naruto anime adaptation. The character with the most votes received a brand-new one-shot tale from Kishimoto. Fans are now able to see the results of this effort! Masashi Kishimoto, the author of the Naruto anime series, returned to Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine with a 55-page one-shot story that featured more of his life with Kushina Uzumaki before Naruto was born, with Naruto Uzumaki’s father Minato Namikaze winning the popular vote. You can view the special trailer for Naruto: The Whorl Within the Spiral one-shot, which was released by Shueisha to help commemorate the major return, below. It was a brand-new glimpse into the world’s favorite character from the series.

How to Read the New Minato One-Shot

The 55-page one-shot novel Naruto: The Whorl Within the Spiral follows Minato during an important time in which he first learns a new (and well-known) jutsu in order to aid Kushina and fight the Jinchuuriki. It is an emotional flashback that fills in a gap from the first season of the Naruto anime, and it is already been a huge hit with fans. This new tale was intended to be a major favor to Minato’s supporters who chose him as their favorite character in the first place. It is Masashi Kishimoto’s first brand-new one-shot story for the franchise in a long time, and it merely highlights why the series was such a success in the first place. Later this fall, Naruto’s 20th anniversary celebration will continue with a special new episode from the original Naruto anime. This new Naruto anime, which will have four episodes and be released in September, has not yet provided any information regarding the storyline, returning characters, or cast for the significant anniversary comeback. Crunchyroll and Hulu currently provide Naruto anime for viewing.
