As Cast Members Reunite on the Picket Line, Cancelled Drama Suits Is a Huge Hit on Netflix

Suits’ run on USA Network ended four years ago, but since it became available on the streaming service, the legal drama series has become a huge sensation. During the week of June 26–July 2, 2023, the first season of Suits garnered more than three billion viewing hours on Netflix and Peacock, according to Nielsen. In terms of streaming history, this makes the show the most-watched acquired show in a single week.

The television show featured the lawyers of a New York City law practice and starred Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht, Gina Torres, Meghan Markle, Rick Hoffman, Sarah Rafferty, Dulé Hill, Amanda Schull, and Katherine Heigl. Mike Ross (Adams), an associate with a photographic memory who dropped out of college, and successful “closer” Harvey Specter (Macht) collaborate to win litigation while keeping Mike’s lack of a law degree a secret.

Regarding the performance of the program, Netflix disclosed the following:

Today, Nielsen reported that hit series SUITS has set a record as streaming’s most viewed acquired title for a single week ever with over 3 billion viewing minutes for the week of June 26-July 2, 2023. This comes nearly four years after the final episode of the UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, produced series aired on USA Network.

SUITS is currently streaming on both Peacock (S1-S9) and Netflix (S1-S8), where season one has remained in Netflix’s Top 10 Series for 4 weeks and counting. The median viewer age is trending younger than the series’ first run.

The revival of the program might be challenging. The stars of the show are no longer bound by their contracts, and Markle gave up performing once she wed Prince Harry.
